Just an Idea

Hello Divinity,

As you know, all tournaments that are started in 2k3 never seem to finish well, which is a shame, because it's nice to see who's the best of the best in different gametypes (iCTF, iTDM, iBR etc).

So I have been thinking. UT2004 uses ClanBase.com, for tournaments, ladders etc, which basically shows which clans are the best (well, some really good clans don't sign up to the ladders, but that's their problem). Just because Clanbase won't support UT2003, doesn't mean we can't have the same thing.

I am willing to create a simple (very simple) version of UT2003 ClanBase - a website, showing different ladders and rankings. It won't be PHP coding or anything advanced, just tables showing rankings in iBR, iCTF and iTDM ladders. The clans on the ladders will play wars with other clans, and the winners will go up the ladder/down the ladder/stay the same etc. But, as I say, it won't be as advanced. I will put in the war results and change the ranks myself.

It won't take me very long. But what do you think? Clans like Divinity, TU, Lions, DTK, PoeT, DARK, FaA, DF, LoV, PWG, inQ, oN, USSR and others can register. Of course, there won't be many clans, because of how small 2k3 is, but it will still be interesting.

I don't want people saying "blah blah it won't work etc etc etc". You can't say now if it will or if it won't. It's just ladders, nothing more.

Only iBR will be LGI.

I had same idea and i have recently been learning SQL at college so maybe i could set up a mysql database and php

Too much college work to muck around with a ut2003 tournament ^^ I don't even enjoy playing the game anymore.

looks like there will have to be put alot of time into this and for what? There are only 3 clans in 2k3 as far as i know ,and everybody knows who's best^^. And no offense but i don't wanna play against clans like PWG, Lions Dark, Faa, inQ, On and USSR .. it will be monster wins all the time and i prefer playing against some really good players.

Yes i agree with Ripper it will be hard work and who is actually gonna respect our hard work for creating the ladder. Tbh waiting for 2007 is the best alternative.

Sadly too true if u dont have a time limit for the tournament!

a tip:
one idea is to have a tournament like we had yesterday in the zark community. we had 2*12 players playing a dm knockout tournament. the last player in each map had to leave. and we played the whole tournament in one night. Winner: {MaC}Nesium

I can include a ZARK ladder if you wish Heggi, for FS, MSF, BKZ etc.

Ripper, in order for clans (FaA, Lions etc) to go up the ladder they would need to challnge higher clans (DTK) etc. Just like in CB. So I think we will receive more challenges than we will be making.

Thanks for the offers for SQL databases but I really don't need them. I don't want it to be advanced, just an HTML page with tables for the ladders, that's all.

I think I am. It's totally different, instead of BR/CTF it is DM/TDM and no IG but ZARK, so it isn't a huge problem I think. (Remy?)

It won't need to be updated every day. Most wars are played at the weekends. If people start playing more wars because they want to get further up the ladder then sure I may need to update it more. But it's no big problem.

Cant u play zark if u are in an insta playing clan?
our knockout tournament has nothing to do with clans...

But the schedule Insaniac wants to make does... I think... well, if not, I play for sure
